About the Artist

My art is fuelled by emotion. Some abstracts are purely emotional pieces, conveying the raw, immediate expressions of what I feel in the moment. I paint them intuitively and unfiltered. Similarly my natural scenes, that emerge from both real places or from memory and imagination, are deeply connected to the quiet emotional depths of the scene. They are rendered with bold, gestural mark making and textures that become a visceral language of feeling. I build each painting in layers, using varied techniques that allow underlying histories to peek through. The works that emerge aim to communicate the complexity of emotions along with the magnificence and intrigue of life.

My studio is in beautiful Belleville, Ontario, Canada, where my work is exhibited at Gallery 121 and the Belleville Art Association. My work is also exhibited at A Place for the Arts in Bancroft, Ontario. Several of my pieces have been accepted into juried art exhibitions in Bellville, London, Trenton and Kingston, Ontario; some receiving award recognition.
